A friend, originally from Manchester but now living in Switzerland, was visiting for a few days and we wanted to find something a bit different for him to do. His number one wish was to see Elizabeth Gaskell’s House, but as it was closed we had to find something else to do.
We contacted John at the last minute and he was able to fit us in for a tour of about 2.5 hours. John was a fabulous guide and we’d have found lots out even without visiting anywhere!
We went to the National Cycling Centre, Etihad Stadium, Gorton Monastery, a quick drive past Victoria Baths, and to Elizabeth Gaskell’s House so we could see the outside. John really has the gift of the gab and he managed to get us in the house for a private tour. We finished off with a visit to Salford Lads Club before he dropped us at Chethams Library.
I can’t recommend this highly enough. John has his regular tours but can take you anywhere that interests you. We had five people in our group and it was a perfect was to spend a few hours. The icing on the cake is that John takes photos of you on your tour and emails them to you later.
