When the dockyards closed in 1982, the area became the subject of one of the first and biggest urban regeneration projects in the UK. Today, it’s home to one of Manchester’s biggest digital hubs MediaCityUK, and attracts around 4.3 million visitors every year. The unique waterfront location is just around 15 minutes from Manchester city centre, and provides an alternative place to escape to away from the hustle and bustle from the centre. Salford Quays isn’t quite on the same size scale as the busy city centre, but manages to pack into it just about everything you need for a good day out with the family. From shopping and eating to sports, art and drama facilities, Salford Quays also managed to make space for residential properties and office buildings. It’s a place worth visiting, where there’s something for everybody, and everyone can appreciate the areas stunning architecture and history behind it.
