No matter what football team you support, a trip to Old Trafford is an absolute must when visiting Manchester. The football stadium is the home of Manchester United F.C. and is the largest football stadium in the UK, with the ability to hold a capacity of over 75,000. It’s an impressive build and has been around since 1910. When visiting Old Trafford, there’s a chance to go behind the scenes with a stadium tour, and a special Manchester United museum.
No visit to Trafford is complete without a trip to Intu Trafford centre. It’s a large, out-of-town shopping centre filled with high street shops and designer brands, as well as an impressive food court with plenty of restaurants and fast food joints to choose from. It’s not short of fun things to do either, complete with an Odeon cinema, an arcade and even a mini golf course. The complex opens until late at night, and parking is free – what’s not to love?
Thrill seekers and those who love outdoor sports will be thrilled to hear that Trafford has its very own snowboard and skiing slope. Chill Factore is fun for all ages looking for a fun day out, with a chance to develop your ski and snowboarding skills with professional lessons to help you have more fun on the slopes. If you’ve had too much of the cold snow, there’s even a fun climbing wall on site that everyone can get involved with.
Legoland Discovery Centre is the ultimate kids day out here in Trafford, with a mega indoor Lego playground, complete with 3 rides, 10 Lego build and play zones and even a 4D cinema. It’s perfect for all children who love everything Lego, with plenty of fun to be had in this indoor discovery centre.
Trampoline parks have become increasingly popular in the last year or so, and Trafford park has their very own one to brag about. Jump Nation is made up of a huge 139 wall-to-wall trampolines, all joined together. The venue hosts kids parties, fitness classes and various different activities to suit all ages.
Trafford has an incredible history; with Neolithic arrowheads having been found in Altrincham and Sale, evidence of Bronze Age habitation in Timperley and fragments of Roman pottery found in Urmston.
Trafford has a population of about 233,3000, and the area covers 41 square miles.
The River Mersey flows through Trafford, and separates North Trafford from South Trafford.
